HVX200: PAL or NTSC
by Andrei Bocharnikov 14 years ago
Hi, With new Panasonic HVX200 I am going to shoot only HD format. So, in one shop they have only NTSC cameras. My questions are: - is format consideration for SD or it is different for HD to shoot als
Re: HVX200: PAL or NTSC

You may be able to hear the audio difference. If you do you can re-pitch the audio (not re-time, just re-pitch) which should be doable in decent audio editing software, or you can put the whole projec
Compressor 3 or Nattress Converter?

Hi Just wondering about investing in the Nattress Standards Converter, but see that Compressor 3 makes big claims about "optical flow technology to produce pristine standards conversions". I need to g
Re: Compressor 3 or Nattress Converter?

Canon 5D2 is progressive 30p and that doesn't convert very well to anything else. Your best bet is probably compressor, but don't be too disappointed if it doesn't come out totally best. Graeme - www.
First Time Nattress G Converter User - Having Issues

So when you drop the NTSC clip into the PAL timline, it could look gnarly. That clip is only holding a place for the converter though. Ensure your timeline is PAL - FCP will change it for you under th
nattress standards conversion question
by Marni Page 11 years ago

Re: nattress standards conversion question

Starting with PAL is advantageous as no pulldown to remove, and slightly higher resolution. If you convert it to 24p by slowing it down 4% (use Cinema Tools "conform") Image looks great. You can make
10 Bit Banding?

Re: 10 Bit Banding?

The banding in such cases is usually a display artifact from how FCP displays 10bit data on an 8bit monitor.- www.nattress.com - Film Effects and Standards Conversion for FCP
HDV doesn't respond to de-interlacing like PAL

Re: Update on 60i conversion to 24p

I wonder if iDVD guessed the field order wrong or something. That would account for jerking. I've certainly seen DVD programs guess it wrong. For the 60i to 24p, with horizontals, sounds like an incor

ARGH! red text on DVD

EXTREMELY URGENT (at least for me)

I'm talking about how all 24p gets broadcast, as 29.97fps with 3:2 pulldown. That pulldown cadence needs to be constant or else you upset people with flat screens or video projectors. Best way to achi

The sensor is nearly 5k at 4900x2580, but some of those pixels are reserved for black balance and the like, leaving a maximum shooting area of 4520x2540, what we call 2540p or 4.5k. For recording via

Re: HDV workflow - DVCPro HD or Apple Intermediate Codec

You can output 4:2:2 but you can't record it to BetaSP. BetaSP is an old analogue format that is not good enough to record a 4:2:2 signal. BetaSP has about 3 4 the luma rez of your DVCAM, so you're ju
