On point #3 note that cmd+D adds a video dissolve. Shift+Cmd+D adds an audio dissolve. Use the page-up page-down keys to jump between edits on any active (hilighted) track. Ben Unguren Motion Graphics

Certainly. You simply apply a mask to the adjustment layer. The mask will restrict its effects to the areas of the image that you designate.
