Thanks for your reply Mark, yeah that s basically it, its sounds hollow rather than the audio coming from a direct source as you would with a shotgun mic. From your advice I think I m going to go down

basically, you duplicate your final sequence, set up one as 5.1, one as stereo, and export accordingly. for 5.1, i have exported as individual tracks (one of the export options) then assigned them in
