The solution is to clean the Media Cache directory manually. E.g., the below menu item didn't do the trick: Edit -> Preferences -> Media -> Clean Instead, I deleted all the files in the Media

Hi Ethan, Yes, there is. Search for "Show Video Thumbnails" in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog box, and then assign a shortcut for the command. Works a treat! Thanks, Kevin Kevin Monahan Social Support

What is "conforming"?

When I import AVCHD clips I see a message in the lower right of the screen saying "Conforming file name ". Is this normal, or are my project settings off What exactly is being conformed

To my knowledge, "Conforming" is just for the audio, Premiere never converts any video files being imported. See this Adobe link for a clear explanation of Audio Conforming: http: help.adobe.com en_US

Media Cache database

I have noticed that Premiere's media cache database, which defaults to the C drive, is getting quite large, and is starting to fill my drive. I am on CS4. 1) What would be the results of deleting this

You can delete all the media cache, Premiere will rebuild what is needed as it is needed and it wont take long. Dont put the Media Cache location preference on a drive that you might remove or change

Media Cache can be deleted, but know that PPro will re-build the cache files it requires the next time you open the project. You may have to wait a while until you can start working smoothly while it

Is there a way to get it to default to a higher-speed I increase the speed with J and L to 2x, but after halting playback - Premiere reverts back to the default 1x speed.

That's very easy to do: just select all your cuts in the timeline (ctl + A) then go to Sequence Apply Default Transition to Selection and voila. :-) Happy editing
