4:3 is basically full aperture for 35MM. I would transcode with a matte that represents the shooting aspect ratio your DP is framing for and have hims shoot a framing chart (ie 1:85, 16:9 2:35, 2:40)w

David, a hard drive's shelf is at best 3 years, provided you spin it up once a year to ensure it's still working. An LTO's shelf life is 30 years, slightly more useful for archiving media.
