Unfortunately, Mini DV doesn't have 'locked audio' like Mini DVCAM does. DVCAM locks the audio so it doesn't drift. When I discovered this problem, I switched to using the DVCAM setting, but to work w

Try downloading, installing and using the Sony XDCam Utility and Codecs...that should provide files that work natively in FCP.
Trouble importing XDCAM footage into FCP 7

I typically use the XDCAM transfer utility, which then puts Quicktime .movs with the XDCAM codec--into a folder of your choice. Try downloading and using that

Go into Capture Settings and reset all of the settings to a source drive with space available. I believe it also gives you that option when you get the original error message you entered

Is there a way to 'audio lock' your source footage before bringing into FCP This used to be an issue with DV vs. DVCAM formats.

sounds like you need another set of keyframes of the PIP scale and position, for as long as you want to hold it there. So A position, B position, B position, A position. Does that do the trick

there are many things to try....you can use 'normalization' under Modify Audio. Try it...if it doesn't sound better, Command Z to reverse. You might try adjusting audio as high as you can before it st
