That gives me an excellent starting point. I tried compositing that with a solid fractal noise layer using the same animated mask and I think it's about there. Thanks, Michael!

Thanks so much, Adam! I animated visibility with a display tag on the figures rather than using position keyframes, so they'd appear randomly. Works great!
Missing frames warning

I just reopened a project that I've been working on with no issues with several precomped compositions and got this warning out of the blue: "After Effects warning: The sequence has 13 missing frames.

Dave In your Project Panel, Type " missing " in the search bar. This will search the missing files in your project. You will see small rainbow colored icons and name of the clip will appear italicized
