Looking for old script or something like it...
by Darryl Torke 6 months ago
I've been trying to wiggle a path and found out that masks can't be wiggled. I looked online and according to these forums the script: "maskPointsExpression.jsx" would be perfect, unfortunately the li

Actually, it's possible now to wiggle a path. Something like this should work: freq = 1; amp = 20; p = thisProperty; pts = p.points(); newPts = ; for (i = 0; i < pts.length; i++){ seedRandom(i,true
Fade up opacity on layer for first 20% of an interval, then repeat.
by Darryl Torke 2 years ago
Simple Version: I have a layer that I want to fade up in Opacity from 0%-100% for the first 2 seconds of a 10 second interval. I want this to then repeat, the layer would snap back to 0% on the next 1

The trick with any triggered expression is always how to figure out how long ago the triggering event happened, (and in your case, how long until the next one). When the triggering event is a value ch
Change which frames a loopOut references?
by Darryl Torke 5 years ago
So, I have a layer doing a simple blink between 0-20 opacity, alternating frames. But - after a point, let's say after 3 seconds, I would like it to blink between 0-100, alternating frames. Would anyo

Automated Closed Caption Tweak?

Hi, i'm using the code on this tutorial (pasted below). What it does is use the comments on the layer to display 5 words at a time for closed captions. This is great, however I have a monologue I'm tr

That expression was just intended as a quick and simple demonstration for importing metadata from the speech transcription function of Premiere. I suppose you could create a script that would search f
Trail Expression with Parented Leader?

I know how to do the 'trail' expression thanks to Dan Ebberts. However, now I have the initial 'leader' layer attached to a parent. This has seemed to ruin all my layers with expressions that follow t

Tutorial on this interesting animation technique?
by Darryl Torke 6 years ago
I'm referring to the logo build around the 2:20 mark, there is just so much interesting stuff going on, but I have no idea how to do it. Could anyone help me find a tutorial or explain how it is done

Bezier Warp could be used also to distort rectangular shapes - each one should be on a separate layer and the layer size should match the rectangle size. Tudor "Ted" Jelescu Senior VFX Artist
Keeping Particles (Particular) only in 2 Dimensions?

I have a point emitter that explodes out particles, however some of the particles scale because they are getting closer to the camera, is there anyway to make the particles not move in z-space (only x

You could use a disk emitter instead of a point. - The Great Szalam (The 'Great' stands for 'Not So Great, in fact, Extremely Humble') No trees were harmed in the creation of this message, but several
First RAM preview of the day vs the 2nd one.

When I first boot up my computer for the day and go to a project I'm working on (that is admittedly heavy on the layers particles expression), the first RAM preview I do is *so* fast, I'm almost watch

Did you make any changes to your project before your first preview If not, you are probably just loading from the disk cache which is why its quick. Once you make changes that require a re-render, you
Hotkey to cycle between panels?
by Darryl Torke 6 years ago
Is there a shortcut to basically 'tab' from, say the 'project' tab, to the 'composition' tab, to the 'preview' tab. Just any open panel
Re: Hotkey to cycle between panels?

There is no shortcut key to cycle through opened panels. However, oft used panels do have their own shortcut keys - take a look within the Window Menu for their respective shortcut keys. HTH - Roland

Count Characters in a Marker Label?

Something like this should get the number of characters in the comment of the layer's 1st marker: marker.key(1).comment.length Dan
Is there a way to keep a block of text always vertically centred?

I am making a template for a basic AE user in which the user inputs some text. The paragraph setting of the block of text is set to 'center', so that handles itself. However, I was wondering if there

This might work, depending on what you need: moveDuration = 2; moveStart = inPoint; moveEnd = moveStart+moveDuration; target = thisComp.layer("target").transform.position.valueAtTime(moveEnd); if (tim
