FYI, I got this from the folks who make QT Edit. Seems to answer the question. QuickTime timecode tracks have an optional flag that can be set that limits the timecode to fit within a 24 hour clock. I

I have a prores clip that the FCP vid rate column tells me is 29.97, but when I open the same clip in QT the info window says it is 23.98. Anyone know why
