Separate Text to individual Character layers
by Adam Buritsch 8 years ago
This may be more of a scripting question. So forgive me if this is in the wrong place. Is there a quick way to automate the separating of each letter in a text layer, into their own individual layers

Don't know if it's too late, but here's a script that separates out characters, words, lines, etc. http: aescripts.com decomposetext Dan Fredley

The logo needs to be below the square shape layer in the timeline window. Make sure both layers are visible at this point. In the comp window make sure the top of the square shape layer is at the top

I can't see my masks
by tim mcdonough 7 years ago
I've searched the forums but was unable to find an answer. When I create a mask I'm unable to see it in the composition. If I open the layer then I can see it but it's kind of a pain in the ass to try
Re: I can't see my masks

There is a "Toggle Mask and Shape Visibility" button at the bottom of the composition window. After you toggle that on and they still don't show up try typing Cmd Ctrl + Shift + H. Dan Fredley

One trick is to have the glow by itself on a second layer above the original layer. Duplicate the layer. Add a simple choker on the top layer. Then put your glow effect underneath the simple choker. S

If all of the green lines are on one layer and the red shape on another layer. You can duplicate the red shape, put the duplicate above the green lines layer and set the track matte of the green lines

Editing Text
by Yasush Azush 8 years ago
Hi Guys, I was just wondering if it is possible to edit a text layer while I'm outside the actual comp which contains the text layer. Thanks
Re: Editing Text
by Dan Fredley 7 years ago
If it's inside a precomp you can go to view new viewer and it will lock the main comp viewer window so you can open the precomp and see the changes in both comps as you edit the text. That's about it
