Media and Libraries should be on Separate drives if possible. It'll work fine if not, but X is constantly reading and writing to the Library, so having Media (and cache) on a different drive is ideal

FWIW, FCP 7 runs great on new iMacs running Mavericks 10.9.1. Just make sure you have FCS Studio 3 install disks (and some way to mount them). Earlier FCPS installers won't work. I'd also pay close at
