You should try to convert that generator to mesh, then delete those faces (the caps) you don't want. It can't go to AE if it ain't there. I guess the reason is that AE can't differentiate the show cap

use a channel combiner sandwich... add the channel combiner effect to a layer. by default it's set to cover the footage from RGB to HLS (hue, lightness, saturation) and the image looks crazy... duplic
