Maybe try making an instance of your helix and move the instance up a bit in the Y axis. The put the instance inside the sweep nurbs object as a rail, and turn of rail scale. That should keep your swe

Compression takes place in blocks of pixels, like 8 or 16 or 64. Numbers divisible by 8 basically. You can't just dream up odd-number random dimensions and make it work, sorry, it breaks the encoder.

in case you do go with global illumination i found that to speed up render it may help to just use QMC rather than IR + QMC. And it helps prevent flickering and jitter of the glow... see my post here:
