Did you try to convert them to Prores Proxy in Log and Transfer Some times I have found that dv uses more space than Prores.

Being for a band, bear in mind audio pitch. There are two ways to convert frame rate - speed change or real time. Speed change affects pitch AND tempo. Whilst there is good software like Pitch n Time

Convert both to ProRes with the exact same frame dimensions. This might be tricky as the HVX shoots DVCPRO HD and that it anamorphic. Just make sure that you choose the proper dimensions in Compressor
