Yes, definitely get the firmware update to shoot 29.97. In my opinion, FCP 6.0.6 is just fine, but it doesn't hurt to upgrade if you can afford it. You must convert the footage to another codec before

If your monitor does this with NOTHING connected to the input, and with the volume control turned all the way down, then you likely have a blown power filter capacitor in the tweeter power amplifier.

Unfortunately you won't be able to do much with that in AE, except dolly in and out a little. Since the terrain is curved, the perspective won't look right if you try and do any other camera movements

Thanks for the advice, I actually used auto-iris and for the location and purpose I was going for - actually worked quite well. I could see not using it though for the dark to light transition...
