Techniques for Lightening expression computations?
by Alex Printz 3 weeks ago
Hey all, I've been wondering lately what are some of techniques for lightening the expressions you use Right now I'm working on a large comp, maybe 20000x3500 pixels, featuring a vehicle driving acros

Thanks Kalleheikki, but there are no acceleration expressions present. There are collision detection expressions (that are limited to the in out points, so only when the effect is required is it runni
Custom ease
by Darren Lee 3 weeks ago
Hi, I am using the following expression on the Scale property; ScaleInTime=1; easeOut(time, inPoint, inPoint+ScaleInTime, 0 , transform.scale 0 ), easeOut(time, inPoint, inPoint+ScaleInTime, 0 , trans

It would look something like this. Note that I stripped out all of the ease&Wizz dimension checks because you are only providing the X-value scale in your linear functions. If you wanted to update the
Checkbox OFF to trigger animation
by Pedro Amaral 3 weeks ago
Hi, I have this expression set up with time-remap to trigger one animation IF the checkbox is On: n = 0; p = comp("Controller").layer("Death").effect("Player 01")("Checkbox"); if (p.numKeys 0){ n = p.

try this: n = 0; p = effect("Player 01")("Checkbox"); if (p.numKeys > 0){ n = p.nearestKey(time).index; if (p.key(n).time > time) n--; } if (n > 0 && p.key(n).value == 0) time - p.key
Parallax Scale with Null Object?
by Kyle Carr 1 month ago
Hello, I have a set of 2d layers and would like to do a parallax scale with them using a null object and an expression for each layer. I have all my layers parented to a null object, but I can't figur

Substring expression on the source.text, but I need to reference the original input value.
by Thomas Frenkel 4 weeks ago
Greetings, I have a text layer with a substring on the source.text attribute. The substring - combined with a slider - is used to animate in the text, character by character. This is a given structure

I don't think you can have recursive expressions like that that build on each other, since I think sourceRec requires a measurement relative to the composition (someone correct me if I'm wrong). You c
How do I use multiple expressions on one keyframe slider?
by Alex Goldsmith 4 weeks ago
This is probably a very easy, newbie question to answer, but I can't find anything on it online- so thank you for your time. I am working on a project where I want the scale of my layer to increase an

try it in this order, so that the smooth'd code is feeding into the ease (set your variable names to whatever you desire) s = smooth(.2,5); ease( s , inLow , inHigh , outLow , outHigh );
Custom ease via an Expression or copy ease from keyframes to expression
by Jacob Resch 1 month ago
Hi there, I want to automate the Position of a Text Layer via markers. That already works via the expression below But instead of easeOut i want a custom ease. I already have the ease i want on some k

You would need to create some additional lines of code to convert a variable over time into your values. If you had something keyed, you could measure the first and last keyframes and scale proportion
Layer points to another layer with delay?
by Kevin Snyder 1 month ago
I'm using this code so that a layer rotates towards a parent. Is there a way to add a delay in frames to the rotation L1 = thisLayer; L2 = Null_01; p1 = L1.toWorld(L1.anchorPoint); p2 = L2.toWorld(L2.

This will take e.g. 99 frames (or whatever you set to t) and use the positions that the values were at at that time to calculate the delta. Adjust as necessary to get the result you want (maybe drop t
Simple expression to clamp height scale?
by Katryna Sleptzoff 1 month ago
Hi all; I know this must be an easy solution for anyone who knows how to write expressions-- I'm still at the stage where I'm able to mess around with some pre-written expressions but not sure how to

It is because the 0 is used to call the first part of value, which in this case is an array. Value is the number that goes into the expression BEFORE the code. Value are the numbers that you can type
