If you believe the issue is with Compressor then the first step would be to upgrade to Compressor 4.4 and see if Apple improved it. If you know how to match settings you can also compare to Handbrake

it is "rendering" what you see in the waveform. there's a setting somewhere that will turn that off, but the waveform wont "play" along with the sequence. nick

FCP really doesn't like editing codecs that aren't it's own. Meaning it loves DV, loves DVCPRO HD and HDV...is enamored with ProRes. But it gets grumpy when working with H.264...Cineform...even DNxHD

I've used the encoding in Compressor with success. Here's a tip - what you're seeing as 15-17 Mbps is the encoding for AVC on DVD-R. Switch your burn drive in the preset to either your Blu-Ray burner
