BMD cards used to be rubbish, but they finally caught up with the rest performance wise after al these years. Just don't use the latest driver (10.5) but the previous one (10.4.3). BMD is now Avid's p
Animatte Tracking of Two Elements to Each Other?

I have two takes of the same shot (window in bg that needs to be replaced), both of which are moving around quite a bit. I need to take the window from one and put it into the other. I have gotten the

Not true Shane, Avid's compositing tools are quite good: tracking and stabilization, keyframeable garbage mattes with bezier splines etc. What you need to do: - put the background on V1 and the foregr

I keep my projects in my Drop Box sync folder. That way there's always a Back-up available. http: www.imdb.com name nm0220918
Undo at Bin level
by Olivier Prudhomme 3 years ago
can we finally undo an action at the Bin level like... deleting the wrong sequence without having to go back to the Attic or are we still walking on thin ice while working in the bin Thanks
Re: Undo at Bin level

Honestly, I think it's very useful that Avid doesn't undo bin events. After all, how many times do you delete a sequence by accident You also need to confirm the delete, so this only happens if you're
VFX heavy job: offline editor refusing to cut to length until the director has seen the cut?
by Roger Bolton 4 years ago
We recently did a job on a 60 second TVC. The director turned up a day late for the offline putting the schedule back, so we tried to push the AVID editor to create a 60 sec version with lots of alter

It's a question of priorities. You want the keep your schedule, the editor (and director) doesn't want to feel pushed by the postproduction team. Also, an editor thinks in terms of a movie being much
MC6 Blending Modes

I thought about that too, but although the Paint effect has transfer modes, it can't apply them to the image, just to a solid 2D colour box or polygon http: www.imdb.com name nm0220918

If you use locators (you can chose the colour aswell) don't forget to open the Locator Window. You can then see all locators of the active clip or sequence, very handy. Can also be printed or exported

Hello, Tomorrow, I'm cutting a TV ad shot on RED in 4k, 23.98 FPS . The ad will air on TV, not in the cinema, so I suppose the result will be a 30FPS NTSC DigiBeta tape. I'm starting to think they 'd

Yeah I think it's best to buy an eSata Express card. Importing 220h of quicktimes into Avid will take a very long time, since Avid will recompress every file using the Avid codec. You also need to mak
