x-particles has a generator that's good for this sort of thing. Great plugin, but way expensive if this is the only thing you'd use it for. https: insydium.ltd support video-manuals x-particles-video-
Rendering a fisheye'd scene

To get the curving lines I would either use soft selections or the polygon brush tool. Both offer falloff options that can be edited to taste.
does lathe have to be off the world axis?

I was trying to lathe something and there was a hole at the bottom every time and I searched (googled) around and found that you need to lathe around the 0 position on the y axis (or the 0 position of
Re: does lathe have to be off the world axis?

The lathe axis is determined by the location of the lathe object. By default it's created at world center, but you can move it anywhere you like.
Trying to split object into parts... or polygons, or something... I don't know, I'm so new :(

Super new to Cinema 4D, so bear with me. :P I'm working with a .stp file of a car part. From what I read, Cinema 4D doesn't open .stps, so I downloaded FreeCAD to convert the file. I converted it to a

If you can't get the objects to export properly, try this: 1. Select the object and run Mesh Commands Optimize. This will weld points that are supposed to be connected. You may need to adjust the Opti

How to simplify a mesh?
by Anthony Mesa 1 week ago
Hey guys, Question here. I have been learning about re-topology recently and it has absolutely changed the way i model and the ease at which i can deal with problems later down the line in my process.
Re: How to simplify a mesh?
by Adam Trachtenberg 7 days ago
Generally the only times you need to be concerned about topology are when you intend to use subdivision surfaces or when you intend to deform the mesh.
Hide Object in Render

In addition to what Brian said ... if your light setup is an area light rig (maybe from GSG ), you can disable "show in render" in the area light's Details tab.
Bake Voronoi Fracture - for render on RebusFarm

Hi all, So I have a Cube Object that disintegrates as a Plain Effector passes over it. The Object is a child of Voronoi Fracture. This all works fine as a setup. However RebusFarm does not like Vorono
Re: Bake Voronoi Fracture - for render on RebusFarm

Posted originally that you'd have to make the Voronoi editable, but that doesn't help because you lose the mograph animation. What you could do is export the scene in Alembic format. If you have a pro
How to measure area dimensions on 3D object?

I don't know of any way to get the exact dimensions directly, but here's an ass-backward way to get them: Use the Edges tool to select all the edges along the top border of your polygon selection. The
Depth of Field cuts off

Sorry, I'm new to custom depth of field settings. When I render my scene, the depth of field kinda just ends off. Help me! https: i.imgur.com NYbll8g.png

I'm not able to open the file, but I suspect you may be using the standard renderer and have an alpha-mapped texture where the dof vanishes If so that's a limitation of the standard render dof effect.

Hey Adam, thanks again for all the help, Im almost there. It is working fine now but I tried to just pull your setup into my project and it is not emitting. Have any ideas why that would be?

Hey Adam, I am having so much trouble with this plugin. The render time is insane and it is not covering the parking lot, no matter how many particles or how long. The file example you shared does not open in R14, it says it has incorrect file structure. I am willing to pay you for all of the exact settings you used and any advice you might have on what to play with. I have been pulling my hair out.
Adam Trachtenberg 3 years ago
Are you sure you have the latest x-particles update I just tried here and my file opens fine in R14. As far as the snow density goes, the key is to use the filling option in the x-particles material. [more]
Jon Simpson 4 years ago
Hi Adam, thank you for your continued help.

My client is happy with the look of this but we will need to scale the particles down significantly. I was wondering if you would be interested in me paying you to add the snow after I finish the scene and the animations. If so, what would you charge? It would be much less expensive that way as I am not sure I would need the plugin very often in the future.
Adam Trachtenberg 4 years ago
Hi Jon, I'm game to do it, but to be honest it would probably be more expensive for me to do it as it could take a day or two of tweaking to get a satisfactory result. At my standard rate of $450 day [more]

Thanks Adam, that is a hefty price and very inspirational - a bit less than twice what I make a day. How long have you been doing this I am gonna dive in and hopefully need to use the plug-in a ton of [more]
