I use half-day rates for things like b-roll, second location supporting footage shoots, and sometimes even for primary production. I only shoot a few days a month anyway, so its no big deal for me to

The DVX book is available thru Amazon. As far as Paypal, they NEVER send you email unless releated to a specific transaction. Just ignore EVERYTHING and you will be fine. Most of my paypal scam-emails

My guess would be that since your project is in 24p, it has to do the 2:3 pulldown as it prints to tape. Rendering every 1 2 frame takes a while....

Actually I have been on the Internet now for about 12 years. Boards have become much more civilized. Back then, along with LOL and ROTFLMAO, the most common acronym was RTFM.
