3-4 hours into an edit, my firewire cable wiggled out and my project went offline. Usually this is no problem. I re-mount the drive, restart FCX and everything is good. This time, the app didn't open.

Alright, I think I get it. Select clips -- assign role. I can use the minimize button to shrink the tracks that I've already assigned, and then assign (or re-assign) the remaining tracks. Makes sense.

You cannot capture 1080i HDV at 23.98 on any system, in part because HDV must be decoded to establish all of the frames in the stream in order to remove the additional fields. You must capture at 29.9
