Haven't used video copilot's version (and I love Andrew's AE products) but I really like mFlare! Got it when it was 50% off a while back and use it all the time. Oh, it even works in Photoshop. In FCP

You'll need a Thunderbolt to FireWire cable. USB is and never was fast enough or capable of capturing DV tapes. It's always been either FireWire or component. But really, without a FireWire input on y

What codec is your footage If its h.264 (ie from a DSLR or other file based camera), it needs to be converted to an edit friendly format first. In the case of FCP, ProRes is what you want. Just plain

Try putting your clip on the timeline, 3-way CC and take saturation all the way down (or whatever BW method you prefer using filters), use the blade tool and split the clip in the middle, then remove
