I usually would not recommend upgrading mid project, but Avid MC 6.5 is FAR more robust at relinking AMA clips. Maybe download the trial, if you get desperate. It's fully functional for thirty days.

You have to have the compressor preset applied to a clip to be able to make changes like that. Just changing the raw preset may not work. Apply, adjust, save and you should be good. Best, Jeff I. Gree
