Sounds like you are hitting "Format" instead of "Build and Format" If you hit Format it simply burns the DVD using the existing build in the folder that it is pointing to. If you hit Build and Format,

DVDs are always and only SD, if you are in NTSC you need to downconvert to 720x480 and if you are coming from a HD timeline make it 16:9 aspect ratio. Never let iDVD or DVDSP do your downconverting. Y

Most important piece of info is missing. What is the bitrate of the encode. If it is happening at the same place in the video you probably have an encoding bitrate spike.

GOP should be IPB. Never change that. GOP length should always be 12 for 24fps footage and 15 for 30. Do a test with a problem section and report back.

PS has presets for video screen resolution. Start with the correct resolution for PAL 4:3 or 16:9. Your resolution is wrong, You must bring in the correct resolution. 72 dpi is correct.

If the movie you are compressing is 1920x1080 you need to make sure the compressor preset aspect ratio is set to 16x9' then in dvdsp you choose 16:9 Letterbox. Then we have tons of theads about down c

I figured it out. Incoming video is 1080i 29.97, set primary to 525 29.97 and then realized that I had to set the secondary on 1080i 29.97 for the downconvert to work.
