"Best" is subjective. Linear Light is best for advanced 3D compositing where you are dealing with linear light sources. We stay away from all color management for the most part in AE.

Try going to your project settings and turning on the checkbox to "match legacy QT gamma". If this solves your problem please post back letting me know, and I might be able to explain what is going on

don't ever remember seeing anything listed as faster than compress while doing a better job. To speed up compressor use CBR encoding from a Ref (self contained) movie file.

None of the 3D apps use the QuickTime Video Output Components, so there is no way to mirror output. You could use the extended desktop and drag your viewer to the NTSC... I do this with Maya's render

AE 6.5 has a a very similar paint interface as Commotion. Many of the techniques, shortcuts and workflow are identical. The only catch is that it is vector based, so if you are working on hi-res plate
