As long as you want to apply your default transition (normally set to cross fade) make sure your play line is right at the beginning of your sequence, select all and drag up to the timeline viewer and

I tried sending a clip from FCP into color, not grading, rendering and sending back to FCP and the clip was fine! So i deleted the sequence and re-graded the entire clip in color and it was also fine
