Sorry I can't help you but I have had this come up on Vegas 9 Trial Version. My PC is pretty entry level but I am only editting holiday footage. It does it when I split a clip, nothing more technical

Hi Danny thanks for the quick reply The trouble is the regular crossfade is only available when you drag clips over each other which as far as I can tell has to be done one at a time with autocrossfad
