I switched to version 10.0.1 and everything is suddenly better. I hope this helps someone else. Best, Larry

You can access them from the widget in the Program Panel...that will bring up the settings for the

| | Larry Andersen 1 year ago I was an Avid guy for a dozen years, and FCP since the Final Cut Suite came out, and am disappointed with Apple's current commitment to FCP, so I've been putting in lots of time to try out Premiere Pro. There is much to love in PP. Below is a list of issues ranging from peeves to annoyances to deal breakers. I don't doubt there are excellent workarounds and hidden buttons for many of these. I hope to hear about some.
- There's no dupe detection.
- There's no simple way to select all clips to the end of the sequence...annoying in long sequences. I've been inserting and deleting shots as a workaround.
- With snap on, clips snap into position, but the CTI does not, causing me to mouse somewhere close to where I want to be then add a jump to next cut keystroke to get where I really want to be....if I have the right tracks selected. Any better answers?
- When I put a sequence into the source monitor, I can't edit the source clips into the timeline - only the sequence. I use this a lot in FCP and Avid.
- Also with sequence in source monitor, I can't jump from edit to edit. VERY annoying.
- The keyboard setup has no search function, nor are the folders logical, so creating a custom keyboard is hellish. If I could find a list of all of the potential keyboard commands, it would help.
- When you extract or option-delete, the curser ought to move to the point of the cut. Just a nuisance really, but there is NEVER a situation where you want it to be where it was before deleting.
- Why can't I extract a highlighted clip or clips? Why must I option-delete?
- Locate in bin is a pulldown, but there is no keyboard equivalent....right?
- There is no way to toggle between program and source monitors. I have a workaround that works 70% of the time, but still....
- Is there really no command to select in and out points for the clip you're CTI is parked over??? I use that all the time....
- saving is slow and PP seems very comfortable disrupting your workflow for autosaves.
- Can I really only send one sequence at a time to Encore or Encoder??? I know I can send one at a time to batch, but come on...
- And in Encoder, can I choose more than one output option, or do I need to re-export if I want a small postable H264, an HD post and an uncompressed output, for instance.
- I've had MANY crashes. I'm sure they've been more painful than FCP crashes because I've got to learn whole new ways of troubleshooting. Still...lots of crashes. How stable has PP been for people.
I'm truly not trashing PP. I'm actually rooting for it. It's so close to being GREAT. If I can make peace with some of these issues, I may be able to switch.
Thanks in advance.

| | Larry Andersen 1 year ago I'm trying out Premiere Pro and have come across a problem with the AJA Kona 3 interface. I do have the latest drivers. If I choose an Aja 1080 29.97 or 60i project, I have no issues in seeing my footage playing on my client monitor.
If I create a 23.98 project, I see digital garbage on my client monitor. My client monitor clearly does not handle 23.98, but in FCP, the AJA does what an Aja is designed to do (amongst other things), it converts my 23.98 footage to 29.97 for my monitoring. There are no adjustable settings in the PP Player. If I change the setting in the AJA control panel, PP switches it back. Unlike FCP, where I can choose the output frame size and rate, PP always makes the output match the sequence. Essentially, it overrides what for us is the AJAs primary function.
This is kind of a deal killer for me. Are there workarounds or new software on the way? | |

| | Insanely slow QTsby Larry Andersen 1 year agoI'm trying out Premiere Pro CS5 and am having a ridiculous time trying to export movies for posts. I'm looking at an hour and 20 minutes to render a 3 minute H264 QT at half resolution, 960x540, 29.97 | Re: Insanely slow QTs by Larry Andersen 1 year ago Bingo! There is a Use Previews checkbox. If not selected, PP re-renders everything in your sequence. When selected, it takes and hour and 20 minutes off my render and looks just fine for client posts.
