Though Panasonic says it rarely happens, I am importing clips from a month long 3 camera shoot in Africa (3 HPX 171's) and out of 4000 clips about 80 have the same clip name (assigned by the camera).

No, I haven't used the XD Cam at all. Wow, what a nightmare! Hope you get your clips sorted out. I'll look into those cross field references for our database to see if that could be another possibile

6-core 3.33 Ghz, 16GB of RAM and the 5870-card I'd opt for. It's going to be the fastest system you can get for a lot of tasks. Don't cheap out on storage either, it makes a world of difference. -----

Another option would be to check out Imagine Products "Proxy Mill". I haven't used it but according to the website it streamlines the process of doing what you need to do on this particular occasion.
