Editing Keyframe tangents numerically
by Jim Darski 4 weeks ago
I have been trying to research this but so far I couldn't find an answer... In C4D I can edit path keyframe tangent numerically. It's very useful if I want to zero one side on the keyframe while keepi

To zero out like that would be to change it's influence not it's velocity, a feature that I think c4d lacks. BTW, shift + f3 is the shortcut for that graph panel, took me a while to find out.
Controlling the speed of a rotation
by Nicolas Plaire 3 years ago
Hi everyone! I've been trying to find a way to control the speed of the rotation of a layer. I've been foolishly thinking that a simple time*Speed speed being linked to a slider that I keyframe would

Thanks so much Dan! This works really well. Just make sure Slider Effect is applied to the rotating layer and renamed it to rpm. (took me a few minutes to figure it out).
DoF artifacts during quick camera moves in 3D
by Matt Killmon 1 year ago
Hey all, I'm doing a 3D motion graphics project in After Effects and am having some unpleasant artifacts popping up when I have depth-of-field enabled on my 3D camera along with motion blur. I'm movin

Thanks Jared. That really solved the problem for me. Looks like in Element 3D 1.5 pixel blur still gives those errors.
Stream of numbers
by Jim Darski 3 months ago
Interestingly, I could not find an answer to this even after searching for a while. But this HAS HAD to be asked before! Anyway, I need to create a stream of numbers: 0s and 1s. Let say I have 20 digi

Jim Can't say much about the Expressions but you can create the same effect using Offset Effect. Check the example: 5401_textanimationusingoffset.zip Vishesh Arora 3D and Motion Graphics Artist Films
Centering comp dimension values - any idea??
by Jim Darski 5 months ago
One really annoying thing about AE default comp dimensions is that X and Y values start in the upper right corner. That means that for example if you place anything in the middle of the 720x1080 comp

Thanks Vishesh, The null object is a simple work around. I still wish there was a way to reset comp coordinates especially when I need to work with complex comps with many nulls and layers being paren
layer transparency distance from camera

I need an expression that does the following: the further a layer gets from a camera, the darker it gets until it is fully transparent...here is the catch I need to layer to remain at ful opacity for

This is exactly what I need! I made a mistake and should have said closer than 100... But you got it. Basically I tried to say that I need to set up 2 ranges. Thanks so much! j.
Auto orient to camera plane (not camera!)
by Jim Darski 8 months ago
I have been searching for an answer to that for hours but in vain so far... But I know it can be done... Here is the problem: I have a bunch of screens in 3d space that are slowly rotated by a null (i

Thanks so much Dan! This expression work really well. Got sidetracked by several other projects, thus the delay in reply. Anyway, this is a really nice expression. AE should incorporate in the auto or
Trapcode Particular - repeated photos in grid mode

I'm sure someone must have asked this question before... but my search didn't result in finding exactly what I need. Well, here is the problem. I have about 50 photos which I need to put into a grid t

Thanks Michael, I took some expression class some time ago. I've forgotten most of it but I do remember it was possible to write an expression that if one object intersect with another its opacity wil
