I haven't used the HD version, but I do have the original which I used quite a bit on G4 and G5 system. It made h.264 encoding real-time on those systems. I never liked the results as much as the ones

I always just use the Apple TV 2 preset. However, it's only 720 not 1080. It runs at bit rate of 10. I use my WDTV on a 720 TV so it's not a big deal to me, it might be to you though.

There's maybe a better way to do this. Using DVDSP, import the footage as mpeg2, and it will look great. Next, you can create a separate section within the DVD for putting stills or even a slide show
