The timecode track is handled by the encoding software, not the codec. I use Compressor on Macs, so that's little help to you - but it does carry through the timecode track as well as burns in the tim

We defray every time we add a new volume, which isn't often. But the defrag is done via the copy to new volume reformat old volume copy back method. HandyGeek

You don't have to, but it will simplify management of the XSAN volumes for permission inheritance. They'd better know what they are doing, though. There is a good amount of documentation for this proc
