The first step is to see what file is being referenced. Go into a new bin and drag your subclip or sequence into that bin. Then go under the fast menu (looks like a hamburger in the lower left corner)

No, actually you can continue with your transcoded sequence, edit again with ama media. When you're finished you can transcode again and avid will only transcode the ama media. I do this all the time.

When you drag clips in mc will import them. Instead either right click in the bin to link via ama or link to ama volume. All your media will be instantly ready for editing.
