Scratch really plays a big role with Episode. I'd really want Telestream to write that up some place. It's almost like a built in or mandatory RamDisk of sorts being used during the encoding process.

If need be, you should be converting to ProRes on import then. FCP7 doesn't handle multiple formats in the timeline. On the other hand FCPX does that much better. Multiple formats and frame rates.
