As you've seen there are 2 choices for BD presets. Choose the mpeg2 Bluray presets for most jobs. The .h264 preset will help when you have a really large video to squeeze onto one disc. (More compress

What you're doing is fine and has no quality loss. You shoot to cards and transfer the data over to the comp. via USB, that is correct and fine. I O cards by BMD and AJA and others, are used for Tape

FCP7 is end of life, when you buy a new mac, it will not run on it. Your future in editing does not lie with FCP7. Doesn't mean you can't edit with it for years to come, but there's a cliff. Chris

P2CMS copies and verifies the P2 media. As does Shotput pro. Verify is much better then manual drag copy. You can also hook up a USB drive to the cam in the field and dump card media off onto the HD.

Very good point and I should have mentioned that. They are not for re-sale, re-broadcast. For private use only. You can sometimes, get permission to use. But you're right, you need to follow protocol.
