Instead of using a solid, try using an adjustment layer. Use a mask the same way to frame the logo, and then your blur will effect the layers below it. Andy Dykstra www.ghostrender.com
"Fire Trail" effect help needed
by Mark Ramsey 3 years ago
A friend of mine, an avid snowboarder, asked if I could make a trail of fire, like in Back To The Future, igniting behind his snowboard as he zooms past the camera. I have a wall of flame already keye

Try using a "linear wipe" effect on the flames. You can set the direction to the same as your snowboarder, and then set keyframes on the completion % to match the movement. Andy Dykstra www.ghostrende

by Robin Lund 3 years ago
Hi. I would like to sync an objects position to music. Nothing fancy. Just 2 points. This is what I want. The object is at point "A" (x 0, y 500) for instance. I want it to "bounce" against point "B"

Grouping 3D/2.5D layers
by Jake Gully 3 years ago
I have a composition which has lots of bits of text on it laid out like a timeline, so it's very long and thin. Some of the text is massive and some is tiny. The idea is to have the camera zoom out to

If I'm understanding your layout right then there is a very simple answer. On the comps or layers that get blurry when you zoom into them, there is a "continually rasterize" box next to motion blur, f

After Effects is a pretty resource intense program. You'll need at least a few gigs of RAM to really do anything. It sounds like you're a little confused because adding an external hard drive will onl
AE Audio Question

Hi Everyone, I am doing some key work for a friend, and I've been given Quicktime files that I'm pulling into AE to key them with. Everything is fine except that upon importing the .mov's, the audio i

If a layer or comp has audio, there is a little speaker icon in your timeline far to the left next to the eyeball icon for visible invisible. If your footage is showing audio, but the render isn't, ch
File Error: Unknown File.

We have several FCP machines set up working on the same projects from a storage server. All of our machines get this error occasionally, and it is almost always around 5:30pm. The time thing really th
Expressions that count

I have a job where I need to count between various integers both whole and with decimal places that start all over the place i.e. 135 - 166 or 4.2 - 8.3 etc.. As I suspect I might have to retime these

I think this should work - inside the parentheses for the Math.floor() portion take your value times 10, 100, 1000, one 0 for each decimal place, then divide the whole thing by the same number. Math.f
P2 Card partial clips glitch... or time travel?

So I'm either having a strange glitch with my P2 cards or have unintentionally figured out time travel. For the second time now one of the clips from our shoot has been missing a large chunk of footag

Thanks. We will definitely be rethinking our process to be safer with the clips in the future. After some research and testing we think we know what happened, just not why. Since the P2 cards and the
